Sound Walk

The sounds on the train are a like a repeating cycle.

The sound which I heard the most was the rush of the train as it went through the tunnels underground. The train moving through the tunnel sounds like air rushing past the train, being pushed through by the motion of the train. Then when the train moved up and down, like if it hit a bump in the tracks it sounded like light thunder claps over and over again.

Another sound that kept repeating was the sound of the rails grinding against the trains wheels. The metal scraping sounded like screeching, like someone screaming. The metal equivalent of nails on a chalk board. It sounded like it needed to be oiled or greased, if I could describe what the sound would've looked like it would be lightening.

The rest was indistinct conversation. Most of the conversations were low and murmured but some stood out, some lady kept talking about water and people falling into water. Otherwise there was a lot of small bits and pieces of music blaring out of peoples headphones. Beats and small voices peering out of nowhere.

All that kept happening over the repeated broadcast like computer voices that describe the rules of riding NYC transit.
