Within the scene Anderson used match cutting during the conversation with Sam and Redford. Since they are facing towards each other and not the same way Anderson uses this rule to show they are speaking to each other. Before the other scouts arrived Anderson also used the 180 rule and the 20/30 rule to show Suzy and Sams backs as they saw the other scouts arriving. The part which I find the most interesting is Anderson’s use of montage when the boys charge Suzy and Sam. When they all start coming towards the two the screen shows a pair of scissors and an arrow flying through the air. They never show what the the young couple does to the scouts but by having the following shot show the scouts all running and screaming down the hill it lets the audience make the connection that they won their fight.
